Designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld for Cassina in 1934, Zig-Zag has the shape of an inverted Z and is in ashwood stained blue, red, yellow, white, black with edge in natural ashwood. Using diagonals, Rietveld was the first to introduce this new unusual shape in the chair design scene. Zig-Zag has four panels that bend in sequence from top to bottom in an elegant dance and create what may seem an unstable chair that is in reality firmly grounded.
