Usha is a flat chrome-plated steel umbrella stand that was born from the fluid sign of the designer Eckart Muthesius in 1932. Today with the brand ClassiCon we can enjoy this high design object that screws onto our umbrellas in an original and graceful way. The sign of time does not seem to pass on objects that bear the history of style and design. The spiral of the Usha umbrella stand enchants and shines in flat chrome-plated steel, the base in varnished wood with a glossy satin finish breaks up the shiny effect, for an object that is indispensable in every home. The designer Eckart Muthesius is a son of art; his father, Hermann Muthesius, was the founder of the German Werkbund. In 1929, Muthesius met Prince Yeshwant Rao Holkar Bahadur in Oxford, the later Maharajah of Indore, who commissioned him to build and furnish his 'Manik Bagh' palace. Completed four years later, the palace was a masterpiece of the Art Deco style. The umbrella stand is part of this valuable commission.
