Made of iroko wood, with a 90 metres long rope construction woven into the wooden frame that covers the back and the seat, MR01 Initial Chair Outdoor is a refined outdoor lounge chair designed by Mathias Steen Rasmussen for Gubi.The MR01 Initial Chair Outdoor is the natural evolution of its predecessor model, designed for indoor use. Today, the MR01 leaves indoor spaces to conquer the outdoors. The shape remains the same, but the materials change, with the introduction of iroko wood, suitable for outdoor use.MR01 Initial Chair was conceived by the designer as a chair that he could also use for meditation in his home. Rasmussen draws inspiration from traditional craftsmanship delivering original, clean ideas that are familiar yet surprisingly contemporary. The vision for this chair started from the seat, which extends to the back leg, providing support for the backrest. Its low inclination is designed to give the user a floating sensation. The rope's addition is a feature of Rasmussen's design, who often combines complementary organic materials with wood, creating a dialogue between the two.
