Mezzaluna is a lamp designed in 1975 by Bruno Gecchelin and revisited by him and his son Lorenzo Gecchelin in a modern key, produced by the DCWéditions brand. In the Italian lighting world of the 1970s and 1980s, some objects became best-sellers. or cult objects. Still others went through the era leaving powerful memories such as their halogen lighting, then considered among the excellences of lighting. This is the case of Mezzaluna, a crescent-shaped floor lamp designed in 1975 by Bruno Gecchelin, an absolute reference of Italian design. His Mezzaluna was originally produced by Skipper, an Italian company that was very active in the field of furniture at the time, equipped with halogen lighting, available in black or white, and offered as a wall or ceiling lamp. Mezzaluna was immediately a great commercial and design success, but it did not stand the test of time, as the consumption and excessive heating resulting from the halogen source made this masterpiece obsolete. Until, in 2022, Frédéric Winkler, founder of DCWédition, contacted Bruno Gecchelin through his son Lorenzo, to re-edit the lamp, adapting it to modern LED technology. After several months of work, the lamp was reborn with new finishes, new technology, the possibility of modifying the light emission through filters, but with the same unmistakable style that made it an icon of Italian design.
