Merkur Dining Chair, produced by Menu since 2023, with an exclusive design by Skogstad & Wærnes, draws on the archetypes of furniture history to create a worthy chair for one of the most important monumental buildings in Norway.Merkur Dining Chair is born from the project carried out for a commission by the historic Oslo stock exchange, that has also inspired its name, dedicated to the Roman god of commerce. Its elegant design is linked to the modern intepretation of the classic dining chair, also by applying traditional techniques in its manufacturing process. The concept of the Merkur chair is based on traditional principles. The piece is indeed characterised by a structure in solid wood and a violin-shaped backrest (recalling the other existing furnishings found in that bulding since the nineteenth century), with specifically shaped details making Merkur perfectly suitable either for a historic setting or a practical context. This is the reason why the chair has been designed as a stackable seat. The result is a classic, timeless line with a solid and welcoming appearance, that meets contemporary taste and needs.Stackable chair in curved solid oak and bent plywood. Foam padding. Available with or without padding and Dakar leather or fabric upholstery, in two wood finishes. Seat height 46 cm.
