Leda is a low table designed by Salvador Dalí for BD Barcelona. Legs in cast varnished brass or black patina not varnished (Black Label). Table top in brushed and varnished brass or black patina (Black Label). Carrara marble egg on top or Nero Marquina marble egg (Black Label). Leda low table is both a sculpture and a table that is part of the collection born in 2009 by Salvator Dalì for Barcelona Design. Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of the death of Salvador Dali, Leda table completes the furniture collection in a limited edition that aims to bring homage to this timeless and world-known artist. Leda Black Label is made in casted brass completely covered with a aged black patina. The decorative egg is made in Black Marquina marble. The elegance and odd design is the center of this work of art that will be on the spotlight in whichever room it will be placed. Inspired by the painting “Femme à la tête rose” (1935), the table pays homage to its protagonist, Venus and the female figure. Sensuality of female body, almost aggressive, is shaped in the table frame and sustain a thin table top. Over the table top the iconic egg typical from Dali's symbolism completes the sculpture: the contrast of a hard shell and a soft inside, vulnerability and defensiveness, but also life and the future which female body entails. As we are treating artesanal processes, the small pores or irregularities on the surface are natural to the material (brass), adding value to the piece and are never considered to be defects.
