Koku is a new range of coffee tables by Fogia, created in collaboration with the Danish design agency, Norm Architects, and inspired by the revered American-Japanese craftsman, architect and designer, George Nakashima. Koku is named after the island of Shikoku, the site of Nakashima's former laboratories and the setting for an influential research trip for Norm Architects. The range of tables was developed in response to Nakashima's sculptural and material approach to creating objects, by collecting characteristic wooden slabs and molding his finds into new uses through sensitive joinery methods. Featuring a striking combination of solid wood and metal tubing, Koku is a game of balance: light and elegant that meets heavy and intentional. The tables' intriguing size and proportions provide a bold texture underneath, while the top provides a calm and serene surface for arrangements. A charming addition to the home or workplace, Koku is available in two sizes and a range of finishes.
