Designed by Sami Kallio in 2013 for &Tradition, the In Between SK1 chair is a symbol of Scandinavian elegance. At first glance, the In Between SK1 chair resembles an iconic 1950s Danish chair, but looking closely one realizes that it represents a combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovative techniques. Made of oak or walnut, In Between SK1 is a work of wood crafting achieved by using two traditional methods: formpressing and turning. Besides involving modern industrial production processes, there are also some interventions made by hand that recall the background of the designer. Refined and essential, the In Between SK1 Chair by &Tradition is perfect for indoor spaces. "The most exciting thing is the meeting between the success of industrial processes and techniques that are based on the traditional handcrafted wooden furniture," says Martin Kornbek Hansen, director of the brand &Tradition." In Between is a combination of modern and a traditional craft that is in perfect accord with the tradition and commitment in supporting the tradition of innovation," says Sami. In Between SK1 Chair Characteristics: • Production process: legs and armrests are turned from solid wood, seat and side panels are formpressed from wood veneer. • Strength, durability and safety testing: the chair is tested for strength, durability and safety according to EN 15373 Level 2 - extreme use. • The chair is available in the following finishes: oiled oak, smoked oiled oak, black lacquered oak, oiled walnut.
