Born from the observation of an everyday tool, precisely the summer hat of the designer's grandson, the lamp was conceived in 1972 by harmonizing the tenderness of a soft one-drop design with the essential rigor of steel and the romantic effect of opaline acrylic. Koppel's training as a sculptor and artist gave his designs a distinctive artistic edge, preferring aesthetics over function, as opposed to the thinking of several contemporaries. The HK20 Bubi lamp features a top and stem made of steel, available in chrome or bronze finishes, and a white fabric cord. The opaline acrylic shade refracts a warm and reassuring light, ideal for illuminating confined spaces with diffused, glare-free warmth. The charm of this lamp lies in its flexibility: it can be suspended from the ceiling or placed directly on its stand.
