Hakou is an evocative centrepiece, created by designer Matteo Fiorini for Mason Editions, inspired by the delicate play of light reflections on water. The Japanese name 'Hakou' does not correspond to a literal translation, but recalls an impalpable and poetic image, evoking the ethereal atmosphere of luminous reflections on the surface of water. Hakou's structure is composed of a sheet of glass one centimetre thick, moulded into a shape reminiscent of a leaf or a small boat slightly tilted by the wind. This transparent glass seems to be suspended on a light base, made of thin metal rods that are delicately intertwined on the shorter side, creating a kind of slender but stable trestle. Natural light passes lightly through the sheet, creating reflections that change depending on the angle and intensity of the light. Available in various shapes and finishes, Hakou is designed to embellish any environment, combining aesthetics and functionality. Its presence lends a touch of poetry to modern tables and spaces, with a design that plays on the relationship between light and material, bringing a refined and minimalist interpretation of Japanese style into the home, through the craftsmanship of Made in Italy design.
