Granny Small Suspension

The winters can be harsh in the Alps, so much snow and the need for a cozy interior. The design of the pendant lamp "Granny" is a direct response to the challenges climate of cold winters, during which, as usual, people gathered around the fireplace where the grandmothers told their stories while they were knitted. Granny is a childhood memory. Pure natural wool from sheep bred on green pastures in the remote valleys of the Tyrol, where the harsh climate and rough terrain is the frame of the traditional manufacturing rather than the industrial. Each lamp can be tracked back to the flock where the wool came from. Interventions at different stages of the cycle has refined the existing products and creating new ones, developed from semi-finished materials. To produce a raw and cozy surface "Granny" are used thick woolen threads, produced by a small Tyrolean family business. The threads are hand woven by a collective of Dutch workers. It also applied a natural treatment against mites and moths. Pudelskern inspired by centuries-old tradition and Tyrolean culture by creating new forms. A rugged landscape and picturesque is woven to create objects of living.
