Citizen Lowback Armchair

Citizen is a collection of comfortable seats designed by Konstantin Grcic for Vitra. The series consists of two armchairs, Citizen Highback and Citizen Lowback, both of which can be covered with a wide range of fabrics and leathers. The talented German designer has created this innovative armchair to meet the daily needs of the contemporary "citizen". Tight working rhythms, days full of commitments and stress, small and sterile spaces, Citizen was created to break these flat patterns through high comfort and an image with a strong visual impact. The idea is to combine an unconventional design with a new way of sitting: the seat is suspended on three cables to enable a pleasant swinging movement, while the backrest is firmly attached to the steel frame. Nothing is hidden in the construction, mechanisms, cables and structure are deliberately visible. The two models, Highback and Lowback, easily manage to fit into any environment, domestic interiors, contract and business spaces.
