Akari suspension lamps is a collection designed by Isamu Noguchi that belongs to the Light Sculptures series with more than 100 models of handmade lamps made of rice paper. 1951 for Vitra.The Japanese word "akari" means brightness and light but also light weight. Isamu Noguchi says: "The light of Akari lights up like the sunlight that is filtered by a mulberry paper. The magic of the paper turns the cold electricity in the eternal light of the sun for its heat may permeate our local during the night".
